What diesel dilution can involve
Concerns may involve suspected mixing with another petroleum product, contamination during storage or transport, product substitution, unexplained quality changes or diesel that appears inconsistent with what was ordered or represented.
Warning signs that may justify investigation
- Repeated filter blockage or unusual deposits.
- Abnormal smoke, power loss or consumption changes.
- Unexpected density or other test results.
- Broken seals, suspicious loading or delivery records.
- Pricing or sourcing that cannot be credibly explained.
These indicators do not prove dilution on their own. Representative sampling, competent testing and supply-chain records may be needed before a defensible conclusion can be reached.
What to include in a report
Provide the supplier, date, location, product quantity, invoice or delivery note, vehicle or tanker details, relevant photographs and any lawful test or laboratory results available to you.
