Licence Misrepresentation

Part of South Africa’s petroleum-industry integrity and responsible-reporting platform.

Report suspected false, expired or misleading petroleum licence claims in South Africa. Licence misrepresentation can expose customers, suppliers and authorities to significant compliance and commercial risk.

What licence misrepresentation can include

Concerns may involve a person or business claiming to hold a petroleum licence that cannot be substantiated, presenting an expired or altered licence, using another entity’s licence details, misrepresenting the activity covered by a licence or creating a misleading impression of regulatory approval.

Information that can help assessment

  • The business or individual making the claim.
  • The licence number, licence type and document presented.
  • Where the representation appeared: quotation, website, invoice, email or contract.
  • Any independent verification result or official record that conflicts with the claim.
  • Related supplier, depot, storage or transaction information.

Verify before accusing

A clerical error or outdated copy does not by itself prove misconduct. Record the specific claim, the discrepancy and the source of any verification information.
